SD -> Sales & Distribution Module MM - > Materials Management Module FI/CO -> Financials / Controlling Module HR -> Human Resources Module ABAP -> Advanced Business Applications Programming - a SAP specific programming language that is used to implement customized solutions to customer specific problems & requirements. PP -> Production Planning Module PP-PI -> Production Planning for Process Industries Module IM -> Inventory Management PM -> Plant Maintenance Module PS -> Project Systems Module SM -> Service Management Module QM -> Quality Management Module
Since SAP R/3 is an ERP system, all these modules are integrated as far as the workflow, data flow and business process are concerned. Hope it helps.

SD = Sales & Distribution MM = Materials Management FI/Co = Finance Control HR = Human Resource ABAP = Advanced Business Applications Programming
Besically the SD/MM,FI/CO,HR modules used by manufacturing and service companies for there accounting, logistic and HR activity.ABAP is SAP specific programming language that is used for implementing customized solutions to customer specific problems & requirements in diffrent modules as per need.
Functions for each module different from each other, One can go at a time only in one module as a functional consultant and for ABAP it is a programming part and here the person allways have multi activity in his programming skills for the diffrent modules of SAP.
For any further clarification be in touch at vjdora@yahoo.co.in
Thanks
