Senior Research Scientist
Philip Morris USA Inc., a global leader in the manufacturing and marketing of consumer products made for adults, seeks an experienced Toxicologist to work in our expanding Research, Development and Engineering Department in Richmond, Virginia.
Position Specific Duties
o Direct activities of team members, consultants, vendors to ensure project scope, budgets, schedules are developed/managed
o Conceive activities in the context of broadened knowledge of general business issues and potential impact on strategic directions
o Plan and conduct complex scientific/engineering work in the development/implementation of new or improved technology
o Contribute to portions of major programs/projects which require coordination of technical personnel across major initiatives
o Participate and/or lead cross functional problem solving teams of a company-wide scope
o Serve as a technical resource
o Provide toxicological evaluation and guidance for various business activities, including potentially reduced exposure products
Qualifications:
Experience/Skills
o Ph.D. in toxicology, pharmacology or related field and/or board certification in toxicology strongly preferred with 4+ years of experience
o Product safety related toxicologist with general experience handling risk assessments
o Excellent written and oral communication skills are required as well as an ability to work independently and in a team-based environment
o Ability to conduct research, analyze data, draw conclusions and create solutions and methodologies, implement, direct and evaluate the effectiveness of multiple resources and handle demanding time constraints
o Ability to utilize various computer software
